The newspaper “Stripe Tribute” was circulated in the streets of Copenhagen during the Copenhagen Fashion week.

The pop-up shop was located in Kødbyen and was open for 3 days with great success!

Gardar Eide Einarsson is 28 years old, born in Oslo, educated in Frankfurt – among with Jeppe Hein – and is currently living in New York. Many people might recognise him from the decorated toilets at Karriere Bar in Copenhagen, and now even more will get acquainted with him at Louisiana art museum.

Because it is Gardar Eide Einarsson that has delivered the title-work for the exhibition The World is Yours at Louisiana art museum, it is his big neon sign that is hanging over the main entrance at the museum and this work that embellish the front page of the catalogue. The exhibition opened the 4th of September and in addition to the neon sign Gardar is participating with additional two more pieces at Louisiana.

Gardar and Mads Nørgaard have in connection with The World is Yours made three t-shirt prints. Even though Gardar’s pieces are very graphical and suitable for prints, this is the first time he has participated in collaboration like this and both Gardar and Mads are both very excited about the result. The t-shirts can be bought exclusively at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and in the Mads Nørgaard shop in Copenhagen.

One of the prints comes from one of the pieces at Louisiana, another one is from an exhibition in the gallery Nils Stærk and the third – “Splash” – is made especially for this collaboration.

In order to have more people use a helmet the designers Mads Nørgaard, Jørgensen Simonsen, Molo Kids and Katvig has designed a bike helmets that will be sold from week 33 ( August 2009) in the discount store chain Netto. The price will approx. be 20-25 euros and the profit from the sale will be donated to the Danish organisations of Hjerneskadeforegningen og HjerneSagen (organisations that focuses and researches on brain damages).

“More and more people uses bike helmets today and for a lot of people is has become a natural article of garment when bicycling. It is given that we in the fashion industry should try to design a fashionable bike helmet. And when it even supports such great organisations as Hjerneskadeforegningen and HjerneSagen then it even makes more sense”, — says Mads Nørgaard

The campaign “Safe helmet – affordable and fashionable helmets for all” is developed by Rikke Mørkegaard. The campaign is supported by the ‘Council of Greater Traffic Security’ which is an administration that consists of 42 organisations from the private as well as the public sector.

Mads Nørgaard–Copenhagen has designed a theme for Google’s new artist themes project on iGoogle. Google is in connection to this project collaborating with leading artists and designers from all over the world, among them five Scandinavian companies, where Mads Nørgaard-Copenhagen is the only Danish company represented.

iGoogle is a new site where Google users get the opportunity to reflect their personal style at a content as well as a visual level. iGoogle users can from today choose 70 themes, among them a Mads Nørgaard-Copenhagen theme.

The artists and designers were carefully selected and invited by Google for their creativity, innovation in their field of expertise and strong visual identity.

Mads Nørgaard–Copenhagen has the last couple of season’s been known for their fashion film trilogy: ‘The Copenhagen Experience-Trilogy’ and is thus no stranger to the meeting between the fashion and the digital world.

Mads Nørgaard about the collaboration with Google:

“I am fascinated by the internet and all the opportunities it presents. In my company Mads Nørgaard-Copenhagen we are very absorbed with everything digital, and we have therefore the last 2 seasons presented fashion films for the internet instead of making traditional fashion shows and launched our re-recordings of the song ‘Copenhagen’ on i-Tunes with the film as podcast. That is why it was excited for me to make a Mads Nørgaard-Copenhagen theme for Google when presented with the invitation. The whole iGoogle concept, which is about personalising of the interface, is interesting and innovative and goes hand in hand with the core values of myself and my company.”

Among the other invited contributors are Coldplay, Lance Armstrong, Oscar de la Renta, Jackie Chan, House of Dagmar, Ivana Helsinki, Dolce & Gabbana and Philippe Starck.
